Lutheran Media

  • Winner of our iPad competition!

Thanks for your support and visiting us at the Lutheran Women SA/NT, and NSW, and Victoria and the LCA SA & NT Synod. Lutheran Media gave away an iPad at these combined events to say thankyou to our supporters and to raise the profile of reaching out to people through media. For example, Larry The Lamb is an iPad and iPhone game app available for free in the App Store. www.lutheranmedia.org.au and www.facetoface.org.au have mobile sites that you can access on mobile devices also.

We drew the winner from the barrel at the LCA National Office morning tea on Friday. The person to receive the iPad is Ron Jericho from Murray Bridge. Thanks again for your support.

You are reaching out to people in need through media.
    God bless.

  • Thank You!

    “Great to see you!”
“Thanks for the booklets and DVDs”
“Where can I listen to Face to Face?”

Thank you to the event organisers for the invitations to share at your events the outreach mission work of Lutheran Media. Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and encouragement.

Thanks to the LCA SA & NT Pastors for their applause, encouragement, and prayers for Lutheran Media. They watched an episode of Chronic Pain which touched them. Many are using these mini movies and our other resources in their ministry. Also, thanks to the Lutheran pastors who are presenters – we are always looking for more presenters J

There were 375 people at the Lutheran Women of SA & NT event in Kadina. Even though we did not have a presentation time, we were acknowledged and thanked on at least 3 separate occasions. God’s work through Lutheran Media is touching many lives.

Michelle Shepherd, a new board member of Media Ministry, presented at Lutheran Women in NSW. Michelle enjoyed her time, even though it was an early morning drive from Sydney. Thanks Michelle and LWNSW. I hope to get there next year.

Thanks to a free rental car and the discounted flights, I was able to attend the Lutheran Women of Victoria event. I had 5 minutes before lunch to introduce myself to them. They accepted me warmly, even considering I held them back from an amazing lunch. Thanks for your support!

David Mau presented at the LCA SA & NT Synod on late Saturday afternoon. He touched many people with what resources are available for people to use and share with each other.

Overall, a wonderful experience of meeting people who are excited to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Many of our resources were taken to be shared with people who are in need of the good news of Jesus Christ. Thankyou for your support and partnering with us to share the gospel.

Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us yourself so freely. Thank you for the sacrifice you made for us. Help us to share your good news so that people are saved. Amen

  • Happy Easter!

When we think of Easter, most people may think of Easter eggs - the chocolate treat wrapped up in pretty paper.

Easter eggs come in all shapes and sizes these days. There are bunny’s, bilbies, and even footballs.

Easter eggs weren’t always made of chocolate. They were also made of sugar candy or even from a real chicken egg. I remember the process of hollowing out an egg and making sure the egg shell didn’t break.

Easter eggs aren’t simply nice to eat. They are a symbol of what Easter is really about.

Like a chicken hatching from what looks like a lifeless egg, so at Easter we celebrate life from death. And the life we celebrate is Jesus’ death and resurrection for us.

At Easter, we remember how Jesus suffered and died on a cross for us. How on that cross he sacrificed himself for us so that we are forgiven by God and that we can forgive and love each other.

At Easter we also celebrate his life and how he rose to life. Through this act, he gives us the gift of eternal life.

When we crack open a hollow egg this Easter, we can be reminded that Jesus’ tomb is empty and he is alive forever with us today.

Easter’s true meaning gives us real and lasting hope and it’s a gift from God.

So when you give or receive an Easter egg all wrapped up in shiny paper and tasting of sweet chocolate, remember the attractive and sweet tasting news that Jesus has defeated death for us and gives us life.

  • Why did I give up chocolate for lent?

I gave up chocolate for lent. It was a rash decision that I have never done before. I’ve heard about people doing it but never understood why.

I am addicted to chocolate so this was a big deal. I didn’t think I would see it through but with the constant reminders of my family, here I am heading into the Easter weekend craving chocolate. Although, not as much as I thought I would be. It’s been an interesting journey of self-discovery. I have realised that I can survive without chocolate. That biscuits and cake (not chocolate) look more appealing. And it has made me focus on my relationships more, especially with God.

What I did for lent pails into insignificance when compared to what Jesus did. Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. He was hungry and he was also being tempted by the Devil. The Devil didn’t want Jesus to die on the cross. He wanted Jesus to take the easy way out and not go through all of that suffering.

Thank you Jesus for not giving in. Thank you that you willingly went to the cross for me so that death could be defeated and I can live with you forever.

I’d give up more than chocolate for that but I don’t need to because you give me this gift for free. Thank you Jesus for giving me eternal life with you!

  • Are you in PAIN?

“Some days I just wish God would step on me and it would all be over” 1 in 10 Australians suffer from severe pain. That’s more than 2,000,000 people in Australia alone. You may be one of them or you may know someone who is suffering. Stephen Abraham is one of them. Stephen and his wife, Therese, recently shared their story on Face to Face. Their story of living with Chronic Pain is raw and insightful. It offered many people a message of hope. Lutheran Media offered the booklet “Chronic Pain” (written by Stephen) in the program. This resulted in many people contacting us for a free copy.

Don, from Queensland was one of them, “Chronic Pain. What a blessing to receive this book! I couldn’t believe it. It was my story. Someone else knew exactly what I was going through. They were living it too. Thank you so much.” People are struggling. Amongst bushfires, drought, and job losses, individuals and families need our help. And they are responding to our messages of hope in Jesus Christ.

Lutheran Media is communicating Christ on radio, www.facetoface.org.au, Facebook, and now YouTube to more than 1,000,000 people a week. Thanks to your support, people are receiving hope.

  • A Trip To Birdwood

Technology and media can be confusing to people. Especially when we see it taking over people's lives. However, media and technology ultimately do something important, they share words. At Lutheran Media we are sharing THE Word, Jesus Christ, and his message of hope. We are communicating Christ to where people are at. Whether they are using their phone, radio, or computer.
People who don't use the latest technology may feel lost in where media is going. But groups like the Lutheran ladies of Birdwood, where some aren't on Facebook or have an email address, still see the impact we can have by sharing God's messages of hope in Jesus Christ through media to people.
Thank you for your understanding and support. God bless you!

  • Opening Eyes

I had the pleasure to visit the St Johns Lutheran Church in Tea Tree Gully, SA, today. I lead worship and preached on Jesus healing the blind man in John 9. God opens our eyes to see the truth that Jesus is our Lord & we need this 'opening' often as we are often 'blinded'. God is opening eyes through Lutheran Media. Lutheran Media is bringing God's messages of hope to over 1,000,000 people every week and eyes are being opened. Thank you God! Join with us to communicate Christ and open eyes :)

  • Bringing God's message to Immanuel Lutheran School

Thanks to the children, teachers, parents, and staff of Immanuel Lutheran School in Gawler, South Australia. Thanks for inviting me to help lead worship and bring God’s message of love and hope in Jesus Christ to you.
Thanks for getting involved, especially my volunteer who listened and talked with me on cups attached by string – ahhh the days before modern media.
Words do something.  Just like our actions may show love, words also show love. Saying “I like you” to someone is better than saying “I don’t like you”.
God says he loves us, and he means it. He proved it by sacrificing his son, Jesus, on the cross for us so that we have eternal life.
God says his love in words as he says “I forgive you” and “I love you”. To hear words like this is a good reason to go to worship. Hearing that God loves and forgives us is very special.

Thanks for sharing God’s love with me. Let’s share God’s love with people we meet. Including through media such as the internet and social media.

Hope you enjoy the Happyland show bags and enjoy playing the game at www.happyland.com.au!

    God bless,

  • Let the club do the work

There’s a saying in golf, “Let the club do the work”. This is easier said than done. When you are lining up to have your shot off the tee, the flag and hole look a long way away. The thoughts are to hit the ball as hard as you can to get it near the hole. A result is often a shanked shot into the bushes and a long search for the golf ball. It’s in these moments of frustration I again remind myself, ‘trust the club’.
When I don’t try to hit the ball too hard and let the club do the work it is amazing how often a good shot is the result.
Life can be a little like this. We want things to work out as we want and will put a great deal of effort into it. And how often do we muck it up?
God is here to do the work for us, to guide and help us. He calls us to trust in him and in his son, Jesus Christ.
Even though it may seem scary at first to trust in someone other than ourselves. It’s amazing how often I am at peace when I trust in God. I hope and pray that you are too.
