Our Vision

The Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) has a vision that Information and Communication Technology (IC&T) will be used to aid and support its mission and ministry by facilitating the sharing of information and the provision of resources, education and outreach.

Our Policies and Guidelines

The General Church Council of the LCA has established policies for the use of information and communication technology throughout the whole of the Lutheran Church of Australia including its districts, organisations and institutions. In addition the I&CT Committee has prepared guidelines to assist these bodies to make more effective use of the technology.

Guiding Principles and Standards

The I&CT Committee has prepared recommendations on the use of information technology in the Lutheran Church of Australia. Read the Guiding Principles and Standards to find out about: storing information electronically, hardware and software, local area networks, emailing documents, security and virus control, LCA sub domains, electronic mail, Internet, skills and training.

LCA Email Addresses

The Lutheran Church of Australia issues all pastors, lay church workers, vicars and congregations who are contactable by email with an ‘…@lca.org.au’ email address. These LCA email addresses are used in the LCA Yearbook, on the LCA website and in LCA publications and databases.

Read the Guidelines for LCA Email Addresses for information about why LCA addresses are used, who is given an address, the formats used, how the addresses work, and what information is needed for an address to be set up.

Guidelines have been prepared to assist people and organisations with an LCA email address to show the LCA address as their reply address.

Software, Hardware and Service Offers

The Lutheran Church has made arrangements for pastors, congregations and schools to obtain some computer products and services at reduced prices.

Orders for lay people must come via the congregation and be paid for by the congregation]

Discovere Virtual Web Conference Room

LCA and district Boards, Committees Commissions Councils and Auxiliaries have access 24/7 to a Discovere web conference room.  The virtual conferenceroom offers a feature rich communications tool that uses the Internet and VoIP, (Voice over Internet Protocol] to conduct highly interactive online meetings.  

Up to 35 participants at separate locations can talk to each other, see the same document, website or white-board on their screens, send text-messages, or take part in polls.ere Virtual Web Conference Room.

Congregational Websites

Read the Guidelines for Setting up a Congregational Website for information and tips on establishing a congregational website.

Consider:

  • whether it’s really necessary
  • what the LCA can provide
  • what sort of information should be included
  • hosting and the address
  • links and logos
  • copyright and privacy
  • writing styles
  • what other churches have done.
